With no
funding they have managed to sustain the
project using self raised funds from private functions and national
events
performances. The company is under the leadership of Trust Gumbo
(director) who
started working professionally in 1997 with various well established
groups in
the country, 2003 he was employed as the vice-artistic coordinator for
Amawumbo
Dance Company until 2005 when he went to South Africa
where he worked for a year as a freelance
Artist with various established artists as a dancer and backing
vocalist before
becoming a student at ADI-Maru E Africa’s Soweto class in 2006.In January 2008, he returned to Zimbabwe where he rejoined Amawumbo Dance Company for an international Tour to France and Belgium.
On his return that same year he saw the need of taking the youth off the streets to nurture their talent, especially the under privileged so he gathered 20 professional artistes to establish Kwabatsha Dance Company, a member of the Masibemunye Arts Association and affiliated with National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.
