The
concept and role players were introduced to the Media in the form of a
scintillating multicultural performance, as a trailer to the upcoming
National
and International Tour to commemorate this milestone in South African
History. NAC; DSTV; INCREDIBLE INDIA and
other
partners and sponsors were acknowledged.
It was a look at the past 50 years, including the presence of
students- both
past and present.
Each guest left with Goody bags
of gifts of
cardholders and publicity material from INCREDIBLE
INDIA, and beauty products from RICA SA. Our
Partners’ and sponsors’
presence was acknowledge by their logos run on big screens that
surrounded the
interior of the venue; throughout the event; and was well marked and
appreciated by the 200 + dignitaries, members of the press, artists and
audience members, who gave high praise for the quality
and caliber of the
event.
The evening ran well and with many
accolades being
bestowed on the quality of ADI’s work.
The programme was as follows:
7pm
:
Camera crew was set up, and Sponsors’ logos; banners; and
products were on
display at the Ftv Florida Road entrance of the foyer downstairs, and alongside
the stage in the upstairs venue. The
sponsors’ logos and advertisements were looped to run on screens
surrounding
the venue.
7:30pm
:
Models and dancers were on standby backstage.
8pm :
Guests arrived and were treated to goody bags from Incredible
India and
Rica SA cosmetics, as well as Welcome cocktails. Director of ADI,
Anusia Pillay
met and welcomed our honoured guest, Mr Amarjeet, Consul of Commerce
from the
Indian Consulate, Durban. He was
introduced to other dignitaries and assigned one of our committee
members to
see to his hospitality.
8.20 pm :
Cast and
crew were ready and on standby.
The
Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Mr. Lendle Munsamy of SA “Pop
Idols” fame.
8:
30- 10pm:
Formalities began

PART 1: ADI profile presentation was played to
a
packed-to-capacity audience, and the dancers of ADI performed a 12
minute
multicultural Dance Medley. The rapid 5
costume changes were so professionally and stylishly executed that the
audience
was left breathless.
PART 2: A very heartwarming speech
paying tribute
to ADI’s 50 years of cultural activity and growth as well as very
fatherly
advice was provided by Mr. Amarjeet.
PART 3: Fashion show with
leading designers such as
Haroun Hansrot.
PART 4: Anusia
Pillay provided an audio-visual
presentation that commemorated, pictorially, the 50 years of history,
and introduced one of the Pioneers
present, Mrs. Suryakantha Naidoo, as
well as students from 50 years past such as Mrs. Vasugi (Devar) Singh,
and
other past and present students. It was a
rousingly emotional and nostalgic trip down memory lane for all present.
The male students of ADI, Bheki; Oswald; and Gift performed a musical interlude of drumming and Kwaito that had the audience tapping their feet to the beat
The
Vote of Thanks was passed by Anusia Pillay,
and Guests partook in refreshments provided for them, and the evening
ended
around 10 pm
